Overview

This Special Program is conducted at the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure & Ecotourism (IHCAE), CHEMCHEY, NAMCHI DISTRICT, SIKKIM, TOURISM & CIVIL AVIATION DEPARTMENT, GOVERNMENT OF SIKKIM (Recognized by Indian Mountaineering Foundation, New Delhi) in association with Pugmarks Eco Tours Pvt Ltd

IHCAE is located on a hill top of Chemchey Village, District Namchi at the altitude of 6582 ft. The institute is the first of its kind in the entire North East region. IHCAE provides high standard eco-tourism and adventure related training programs while emphasizing on instilling the concept of adventure tourism without causing any environmental degradation.

This Special Program is designed provide participants with a holistic outdoor learning experience that combines physical activity, environmental awareness, and leadership development. The program integrates structured adventure sports, nature-based activities, and community engagement to foster teamwork, problem-solving, and self-confidence among participants.

Through activities such as trekking, artificial wall climbing, obstacle courses, and village-based tourism, students gain practical skills in survival, first aid, and environmental stewardship. This immersive program aims to nurture well-rounded individuals by promoting physical fitness, mental resilience, cultural appreciation, and safety consciousness in a controlled and supportive adventure learning environment.

On successful Completion of the Program, each Participant will be awarded with a Certificate from the Institute.

Itinerary

Day 1 

Take a flight from Mumbai to Bagdogra. Proceed to Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure & Ecotourism (IHCAE) Chemchey Village, District Namchi by special Institute Vehicle, Arrival at IHCAE Chemchey, Welcome Session and Introduction, Objective of the Program, Briefing on safety rules, code of conduct, and schedule, Accommodation, Dinner

Day 2 

  • Physical Exercise, Ice-breaking and team-building activities

  • Equipment Introduction, Rope & Knot Making Workshop

  • Obstacle Course & Team Challenges

  • Reflective Games on teamwork & leadership skills

Day 3

  • Early Morning Bird watching activity using binoculars, note-taking and learning.

  • Artificial Wall Climbing and Traversing

  • Adventure & Camping Skills: Preparation for overnight camping. Setting up tents, camp site management, and cooking basics, Integration of environmental conservation principles.

  • Night Camping

Day 4

  • Physical Exercise and team-building activities

  • Guided Trekking – Short trek into nearby forested areas with a focus on Identification of Flora and fauna with understanding ecosystems and conservation. Lunch prepared in the jungle by On site team

  • Basic wildlife survival skills – Identification of edible plants, water sourcing, and shelter building and safety measures in forests and encounters with wildlife

  • Afternoon – Visit Namchi, the scenic town Sikkim’s South District, known for stunning Himalayan views, particularly Mt. Kanchenjunga, and many spiritual sites. It’s a cultural hub with monasteries, tea gardens, and the replica Char Dham pilgrimage site

Day 5

  • Hands-on experience with rural lifestyle – Visit nearby village for learning traditional farming techniques, crafts and community interaction with field experience on farming to connect to earth. (Temi Tea Garden)

  • After Lunch Visit to Buddha Park. 

  • Glimpse on Village Lifestyle and Livelihood through Mountain Biking

Day 6

  • Basic First Aid & Medical Awareness Workshop

  • Team Games and Activities

  • Closing Ceremony – Campers share experiences, key learnings, and memories, Certificates for participation and teamwork Cultural programs and Feedbacks

Day 7 

After Breakfast, Bag Packing and Departure from IHCAE Chemchey to Bagdogra Airport and board the flight for Mumbai

Things to Carry list

  1. One haversack (min 50 ltrs) and one small shoulder bag (NO TROLLEY BAG OR SUITCASE)

  2. Comfortable clothes for the no. of days (track pants, t-shirts, tops etc) (Avoid Jeans)

  3. The climate can be very cold. Carry enough woolen clothes like Jacket, Monkey camp, Hand Gloves

  4. Suitable Nightwear, one shawl/bed-sheet, sweatshirt,

  5. Undergarments, Towel, Napkin/ Handkerchief, Ladies Sanitary Sets

  6. Trekking shoes, Sports Shoes, Socks, Floaters/ Crocks, Cap, Water bottle, Fevikwik, Sun glasses, Band-Aid

  7. Personal kit containing toilet accessories, Sun Screen, Cold Cream, Odomos, Sanitizer, 4-5 Polythene Bags

  8. Torch with fresh batteries, Trekking Pole (recommended)

  9. Personal medicine, if any, Motion Sickness Tablet. No need to send any extra medicine

  10. Pen, a small diary/ notebook

  11. Around 3000/- for meals during travel and for shopping

  12. Mobile phones, expensive things allowed at own risk

  13. Original Photo ID for Flight, Flight Journey denied without Photo ID
