Spread over an area of  around 85 sq kms in the Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, the Valley of Flowers is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a stunning backdrop of the mighty Himalayan ranges, the Valley of Flowers National Park presents an ethereal view and an unforgettable experience for visitors, as the name suggests. The trek to the valley offers viewing exotic flowers (over 600 species) like orchids, poppies, primulas, marigolds, daisies and eye-catching spectacles like cascading waterfalls and wild streams. Situated at an altitude of around 3,600 m above the sea level, the valley is also home to such rare and amazing wildlife species like the gray langur, the flying squirrel, the Himalayan weasel, and black bear, the red fox, the lime butterfly, the snow leopard.

The Hemkund Sahib trek is a moderately challenging pilgrimage and trekking route in the Himalayas, known for its scenic beauty and spiritual significance. It’s a journey to Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib, situated at the highest altitude of around 13700 ft, a sacred Sikh shrine, adding a spiritual touch to your trek.

Itinerary

Day 1:  PUNE/MUMBAI – DEHRADUN – RISHIKESH 

Take a Flight from Pune / Mumbai to Dehradun. Reach Dehradun by 6.00 pm Transfer to Rishekesh. Briefing during the dinner. Overnight stay in Rishikesh.

Day 2: DRIVE FROM RISHIKESH TO PULNA/GOVINDGHAT

Travel to Pulna/Govindghat (260 kms/10hrs journey) through mountains & valleys. 

Pulna is the starting point for the trek to Ghangaria, which is the base for visiting the Valley of Flowers. 

Govindghat is accessible by road. From Govindghat, you can either trek the 4km to Pulna or take a local vehicle.

Day 3: PULNA TO GHANGARIA TREK (10090 ft.) (9km/5hrs)

Pulna to Ghangaria Trek through dense forest and along with the Laxmanganga River.

Overnight in Ghangaria.

Day 4: TREK GHANGARIA TO VALLEY OF FLOWERS (12250 ft.) (10 kms/7hrs)

Trek from Ghangaria to the Valley of Flowers. Delight in the sight of green carpets being adorned by a myriad of exotic flowers and flora. Arriving at the valley, gaze through its enchanting beauty and romance the various colours of nature. Spend amazing moments discovering the bright and appealing flowers in the valley.

Back to Ghangria for overnight stay. 

Day 5: GHANGARIA TO HEMKUND SAHIB AND BACK (13700 ft.) (12 kms/8hrs)

Trek to the holy lake and Gurudwara of Hemkund and back The gurudwara and lake at the top are a wonderful reward for the challenging climb

Overnight in Ghangaria

Day 6: TREK TO PULNA AND TRAVEL TO BADRINATH

Adjustment Day or Trek to Pulna and travel to Badrinath.

Badrinath is one of the most popular and religious holy towns of the Hindus located at Chamoli district of Uttarakhand in India and is one of the four sites in India’s Char Dham pilgrimage

Explore the town and Mandir Darshan in the evening. Overnight in Badrinath.

Day 7: VISIT MANA VILLAGE AND TRAVEL TO AULI 

Mana village is at a distance of about 3 km from the Hindu Pilgrimage Badrinath and the two places are culturally connected with each other.

Auli is a popular hill station in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand It is known for its stunning Himalayan views, lush forests. It’s a place of scenic beauty, offering opportunities for both adventure and relaxation. Sight seeing and overnight stay in Auli

Day 8: AULI TO RISHIKESH

Travel to Rishikesh. Night stay in Rishikesh.

Day 9: RISHIKESH – DEHRADUN – PUNE/MUMBAI

Transfer to Dehradun and board flight for Pune/Mumbai

Things to Carry list

  1. One haversack (50 to 70 ltr) and one small shoulder bag           (NO TROLLEY BAG OR SUITCASE)
  2. Comfortable clothes for the no. of days (track Pants, t-shirts, tops etc) (Avoid Jeans)
  3. The climate would be very cold. Carry enough woolen clothes like jacket, monkey camp, hand gloves etc
  4. Suitable nightwear, sweatshirt.
  5. Undergarments, towel, napkin/ handkerchief, ladies sanitary sets 
  6. High ankle trekking shoes recommended, socks, floaters, Sun cap/ hat, water bottle, Fevikwik
  7. Water bottle, Personal kit containing toilet accessories, sun screen, cold cream, odomos, sanitizer, Sun Glasses
  8. Trekking Pole (Optional), Torch with fresh batteries
  9. Personal medicine, if any, with a note explaining doses, time, quantity etc. with the name of the child, 
  10. Travel/Motion Sickness Tablet, No need to send any extra medicine
  11. Carry dry fruits, Protein bars, Chiiki and fruits like apple as emergency food
  12. Extra polythene bags for dumping used/ wet clothes or as required
